Conventional cotton is one of the most heavily sprayed crops and the pesticides and fertilizers used not only pollute the local environment but the chemical residues remain in the clothing once manufactured. Common sense suggests that for baby and kids clothing, organic cotton is safer to wear, especially on delicate skin. We therefore manufacture using organic cotton ensuring the environment where the cotton is grown is healthy for the farmers who grow it, as well as kinder for our children too. Our organic cotton clothes are certified to GOTS standards and gently processed throughout the entire manufaturing process to ensure the end product is super soft and free from toxic chemicals.
Here at Piccalilly we don't use just any organic cotton, we source our organic cotton from a very special project called Chetna Organic, a fair trade cotton programme with a mission to improve the livelihood of smallholder farmers by making their farm systems more sustainable and profitable. The Chetna farmers also own a 10% share in the factory that makes our clothes too!
The Piccalilly supply train is both thoughtful and rigourous. We have 100% transparency from the fields where our chemical free organic cotton is grown, right the way through to the fair trade factory where our lovely little organic clothes for lovely little people are lovingly made. You can be confident when purchasing Piccalilly that you are buying an authentic ethical and organic product. We don't do what's easy, we do what's right!
Piccalilly pay a fair price for their clothing and the result is that the people who make our ranges receive a living wage and extra benefits including free transportation to work, company sponsored meals, healthcare and funding for their childrens' education.
Piccalilly clothes are made for kids, not by kids. We are committed to working only with suppliers who meet the highest level of social compliance and give you the certainty the our products are child labour free.
